Supreme Court to hear plea on lifting curfew in J&K next week?

The Supreme Court of India will hear a petition on the issue of lifting the curfew in Jammu and Kashmir next week. The petition has been filed by former Chief Minister and National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah, who has sought the removal of the blanket restrictions in the state so that the people of Jammu and Kashmir can be allowed to continue with their normal lives. The petition also calls for the Centre to restore the state's autonomy and to revoke the August 5th abrogation of Article 370. The plea is expected to be heard by a three-judge bench comprising Chief Justice of India Sharad Arvind Bobde, Justice B.R. Gavai and Justice Surya Kant. The outcome of the hearing will be closely watched by both the political parties and the people of the state.
